Civil/Structural Engineer II Our Client, America’s largest state-owned, public power enterprise, has an exciting opportunity for a Civil/Structural Engineer II to work in its White Plains, NY office. In this position, your responsibilities will include inspecting, planning, analyzing, and designing/preparing detailed construction drawings and specifications, engineering support during construction phases, technical report writing involving power plant civil works, specifically in the area of dam safety and regulatory compliance for facilities including dams, dikes, tunnels, and additional structures. Major challenges associated with this position include evaluating and recommending selection of consultants, specification and report writing, interfacing with other discipline engineers and regulators to achieve technically integrated design/analysis and overall project goals. Assignments include, dam safety studies and rehabilitation, desk top studies, probably maximum flood studies, Emergency Action Plan coordination, and conceptualization, definition, tracking and implementation of major technical projects involving regulatory compliance at NYPA’s projects. Qualified candidates are required to have a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Hydraulics and/or Geotechnical preferred) with a minimum of 10 years experience in civil/structural, dam safety and rehabilitation, foundation engineering, and with FERC-licensed structures. Familiarity with current codes, standards, regulations and requirements is required. A New York State Professional Engineers (P.E.) license or the ability to obtain one is desirable. Strong oral and written communication is required, and candidates must be able to produce finished reports and specifications which explain recommendations in a clear, concise, and articulate fashion. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their performance as an effective individual contributor on multi-disciplined team projects and be willing to travel to facilities to carry out their responsibilities.
